IDS Newsletter #5, March 2010 |
|
Dear Members,
Just one week ago we had the general assembly of our society in Miami, in which the election of new representatives took place.
Our
president, Peter Soyer, expressed his intention to resign from his role
and the assembly agreed to give to myself the responsibility to
continue his action.
Iris Zalaudek was designated to be the
new general secretary and Rainer Hofmann-Wellenhof was confirmed in his
role as treasurer.
In this context we would
really like to thank all of you for your continuous support and let you
know that we will try to do our best to continue what Peter started and
to keep going with the improvement of our society!
At
the assembly we briefly discussed the program for 2010/2012, in which
we identified 3 priorities, namely, to promote membership and
dermoscopy worldwide, to expand education, and to promote research. Ash
Marghoob, Harald Kittler, and Scott Menzies will be responsible for
these 3 tasks, respectively. However, an executive board was also
established in order to discuss twice a year the developments of our
program. Please see also the official minutes of the general assembly.
Looking forward to seeing your soon at one of the next meetings
With all our best regards
Geppi & Iris

IDS Newsletter #1, August 2009 |

In this 2nd issue of the IDS Newletter we will focus on dermoscopy of amelanotic melanoma. This group of melanomas still represents a challenge for every clinician given the broad spectrum of possible differential diagnoses.

In this context we like to make you aware of the recent publication by Dr. Scott W. Menzies, who conducted a study via the IDS investigating the value of dermoscopy in the diagnosis of amelanotic and hypomelanotic melanomas (ref. Arch Dermatol 2008; 144:1120-7).
Please note that the IDS Newletter aims to provide space for all IDS members to send their own cases or to express their opinion about the IDS and dermoscopy in general.
Finally, we are excited to announce the 2nd World Congress of the IDS to be held in Barcelona, Spain, on November 12-14, 2009. Have a look at the final program: http://www.congress2009.dermoscopy-ids.org/

IDS Newsletter #0, May 2008 |

Welcome to the IDS Newsletter!
For the full version (6 pages) please click here! (PDF, 5MB)
In my role as president of the International Dermoscopy
Society it is my responsibility and pleasure to
write a few words about this inaugural newsletter. The
idea was recently born by Iris Zalaudek and a small group of friends at the General Assembly of the Society
in San Antonio during the AAD meeting in February. Iris has since been invited to realize this idea and to
take charge as the first editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication.
The aim of the newsletter is to share news and data about the society and society-related activities with the
members and other colleagues interested in the art and science of dermoscopy. In addition, each publication
will present an interesting dermoscopic case of the quarter as well as abstracts of recent publications on
the selected theme.
Remarkably, 33 publications on dermoscopy have already been published this year. Therefore, we thought that
the IDS members would appreciate reading a few selected
abstracts plus a commentary provided by an expert
in the field.
It would be most certainly appreciated if you forward his newsletter to friends or colleagues all over theworld who are interested in the fascinating universe of dermoscopy and invite them to join our Society.
Finally, please be good enough to let us know your
comments and provide your feedback as this newsletter is intended to be a dynamic avenue for the International
Dermoscopy Society.
In this spirit, I hope you find this first edition stimulating
reading.
